Upcoming Hospital Visits Oct 30th and November 30th
Last updated 2 weeks agoI hope everyone is doing well and sorry for the long absence. I transitioned from the 756 over to the 777 back in January. I have been flying a mix of reserve and line holder schedules since completing OE back in March.
We do have good news on the Pilots for Kids scheduling front!
We have just added 2 dates to the Houston Pilots for Kids roster. The first is the Fall Festival visit on October 30th from 10am-12pm at Texas Children’s Hospital Woodlands Campus. This visit is in the main lobby of the hospital and is normally limited to 6 volunteers. Adjust your October PBS bid accordingly!
The second event is The Tree Lighting Ceremony on November 30th from 4p-7pm at Texas Children’s Hospital Katy Campus. This event is also normally limited to 6 volunteers.
We are planning to schedule hospital visits the first week of December at Texas Children’s Hospital Downtown and also The Woodlands campus. In addition, we will plan on a visit to the Memorial Children’s downtown campus, which normally includes in room visits!
As always, email me if you are interested in attending these visits and I will add your name to the list(s). They do fill up quickly due to the volunteer limit imposed by the hospitals so we will probably have a list of 6 for each visit and then a standby list of about another 6.

Pilots for Kids visit Texas Children's Hospital The Woodlands - December 3, 2025
Last updated 9 months agoThe Houston Pilots for Kids visited the Texas Children's Hospital - The Woodlands Campus on December 3, 2025 for their annual Christmas Tree Lighting. This visit took place in the Main Lobby and was a great success thanks to our PFK volunteers! This event featured our "Fly the Plane into the Hangar" activity and "Pilots License" photo prop which the kids enjoyed. Hundreds of aviation themed stuffed animals, pull back airplanes, coloring books and other gifts were distributed bringing smiles to the kids!!!
Pilots for Kids visit Texas Children's Hospital West Campus - Houston Dec 1, 2025
Last updated 9 months agoOn Monday Dec 1, 2025 the Houston Pilots for Kids group returned to the Texas Children's Hospital West Campus . This was our first visit back to this location since COVID, but we were able to bring some cheer to the kids. We spent a few hours in the Main Lobby (due to rainy weather outside) for their Annual Tree Lighting. We had 7 volunteers give out a great variety of gifts including pullback airplanes, pilot teddy bears, activity and sticker books, airplane cards and autographed children's books. Our "Fly the plane into the hangar" and "Pilots License" activities were a big hit!
The visit was a great success and we plan on visiting again in the Spring next year!

The Houston Pilots for Kids visited the Texas Children's Hospital - The Woodlands Campus on December 3, 2025 for their annual Christmas Tree Lighting. This visit took place in the Main Lobby and was a great success thanks to our PFK volunteers! The Houston Pilots for Kids visited the Texas Children's Hospital August 27, 2024. This visit took place at the Child Life Zone on the 16th floor and included a great variety of gifts, activities, and smiles!
December 8th Houston Pilot's for Kids visit at Children's Memorial Hospital
The Houston Pilots for Kids were invited to participate in the Children's Memorial Hospital Outpatient party on Friday December 8th. The theme of the party was "How the Grinch Brought Back Christmas", and our aviation themed booth was a big hit. This included an activity in which kids fly small airplanes into the hangar for a prize. We also had a pilot license photo prop for families to take pictures. We gave out a wide variety of gifts including pullback airplanes, pilot teddy bears, activity and sticker books, airplane cards and autographed children's books. The visit was a great success, and we plan on visiting again next year in both the Spring and Winter season!
December 7th Houston Pilot's for Kids visit at Texas Children's Hospital
On Thursday December 7th, the Houston Pilots for Kids group returned to the Texas Children's Hospital downtown. While we were not able to do room visits, we were able to setup a booth for their Winter Wonderland Group and bring some cheer to the kids. Our aviation themed both included an activity in which kids fly small airplanes into the hangar for a prize. We also had a pilot license photo prop for families to take pictures. We gave out a wide variety of gifts including pullback airplanes, pilot teddy bears, activity and sticker books, airplane cards and autographed children's books. The visit was a great success, and we plan on visiting again next year in both the Spring and Winter season!
December 6th STXBAA Charity Drive
The Houston Pilots for Kids group was invited to attend a charity drive at the Hobby Galaxy FBO on December 6, 2023. We received 120 gifts for our group to distribute to the hospitalized children we visit each year. This event was a huge success and began a new partnership with the STXBAA we hope lasts a long time!

Houston Pilots for Kids visit at Memorial Children's Hospital August 2, 2023
On Wednesday August 2nd, the Houston Pilots for Kids group returned to the Memorial Children's Hospital in downtown Houston for a midyear visit. This was our second visit to this campus and it was a great success! PFK volunteers went to various floors for in-room visits and spread well wishes. We even had a chance to meet "Pilot", one of the hospitals service dogs. We provided a variety of gifts including pullback airplanes, pilot teddy bears, activity and sticker books, airplane cards and autographed children's books. The visit was a great success and we plan on visiting again later this year in December.

The visit was a great success and we plan on visiting again later this year!
Shriner's Childrens Hospital Visit
Shriner's Childrens Hospital Visit Friday December 16, 2022. Our group had a great visit to the Shriner's Hospital in Galveston, Texas and brought some much needed holiday cheer. First hospital visit in 3 years and we are excited to be back!

Shriner's Childrens Hospital Visit December 16, 2022
The Houston Pilots for Kids group was able to make a visit to the Shriners Children’s Hospital on December 16th. The visit was a great success and we have developed a great new hospital relationship for our organization!
